About Us

ProComm Services left the Gulf Coast after the hurricanes of the 2004-2005 season. Since then I have worked as a systems integrator and a Senior Programmer/Analyst.

I am currently doing consulting for IBM i5 (AS/400) programming and web services using PHP on Linux with a very nice group of people in Nashville. I've been very lucky to be able to use Linux as my desktop at work, though I still run Windows sometimes -- usually in a Virtual Machine under Linux.

I occasionally take on a job to clean-up & speed-up a Windows system or serve as a Linux evangelist when time allows, or I will build and host a web site. I'd like to do more web sites and hosting to grow my business again.

I now have a wife, a two-year old son, and another baby on the way. Yikes!

I'm just starting to work on this web site again, so a lot of the information and it's presentation will be out-of-date. I've updated my skills and plan to fully utilize them.

I usually post my contact information here in the form of a GIF image, so that bots don't harvest it. The image here is old, but I'll be updating it in the next day or so.

  iSeries and AS/400

If you ever ran applications on an AS/400 or iSeries, you know how rock-solid, scalable, and secure the platform is. Your author started programming on the System/36 practically by accident. Many people love(d) that machine, but I was very glad to start working on the AS/400 back in 1989. Visit my AS/400 links page. ProComm Services is an IBM Business Partner.

  Linux and Unix

Are you making the transition to Linux, Unix or the MacOS? Does the Redmond giant's new licensing policies make your brain and your wallet ache? Your author has been using Linux for years now. When I first started using Linux, it was not very easy to install. Window management and applications had not advanced much since I worked with System V and SCO Unix back in the 1980's. Today, it is MUCH easier to install Linux and get some work done on the desktop. And don't forget, MacOS X _is_ Unix! In production - coming soon!
